The city centre itself has limited accommodation and is best visited as a day trip from beach hotels along the Platinum Coast to the west or the livelier south coast around St. Lawrence Gap. A car or regular bus/taxi use is practical since the best beaches are outside the centre. December to April, the dry season, is also the most expensive and crowded period.
Best time to visit: May and June, just after the winter peak, for good weather at lower prices.
