El Dahar is the older, more local part of town, while the newer resort strips further south and in Sahl Hasheesh concentrate the large beachfront hotels. Most visitors book packages that include transfers, since the resort areas are spread along the coast and not easily walkable between them.
Best time to visit: March to May and October to November for warm but not extreme temperatures.
