How to find a hotel in Cusco

The Plaza de Armas and San Blas neighbourhood above it are the most convenient and atmospheric bases, both walkable though steep given the city's altitude, which visitors should allow a day or two to adjust to. Rates rise significantly during the dry season from May to September and around the Inti Raymi festival in late June.

Best time to visit: April, May, September or October, for drier weather than the wet season and lower prices than the June to August peak.
